Basics.

Containers are like groups in functionality but appear over the desktop as a list instead of a single icon. The purpose of containers is help visually organize groups of related files and conserve space on the deskop by arranging files in a list.

Even though containers appear as seperate "entities" on the desktop the files contained within are still part of the desktop and can be affected by selecting and dragging like other files.

To move the entire container you must select all files in the container and drag the selection (otherwise the files will be removed instead of moving the container itself).

Creating Containers.

Create a new container by selecting some files (except for other files in containers or groups) and contextual clicking on any of the files then choosing the New Container with... item from the menu. Optionally you can use the Selection > New Container with Selection item in the File menu if you prefer.

Adding Files.

To add more files to a container after it's been created simply drag and drop files on the container.

The position of files in the container can be arranged by dragging between files where an indicator line will appear.

Removing Files.

Remove files by dragging and dropping a file outside the container (over the desktop). If you drag all files out of the container it will be removed automatically.

Editing Appearance.

The specific apperence of the container including: color, icon size and title can be changed by contextual clicking on the container and using the popup menu. In the preferences there is setting for the general style of all containers.

Additionally to change the container title you can click and hold down momentarily on the title like you would other icons on the desktop.
